The web hosting service provides customers with access to a high-quality, 'industrial-strength' environment in which they can host web sites.

The cost of setting up and maintaining a web presence is quite high, both in terms of the hardware required, and also in terms of ongoing system maintenance and security. Customers within the University using this service will benefit from a significant reduction in the cost of having a web presence.

The service provides each customer with a dedicated 'virtual web server' and domain name. Access to scripting technology is provided as standard with options for more advanced features such as web-databases.
