Description

UNIX/Linux Server installation

  • Installation and configuration of operating system and departmental specific applications software.
  • Connection to the University network, peripheral devices and creation of up to ten user ids if required.

Exclusion
Hardware maintenance.

UNIX/Linux Server management

  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of operating system and departmental specific applications software.
  • Connection to University network and peripheral devices.
  • System monitoring and performance control.
  • Username/password registration and administration.
  • Installation of compilers.
  • Administration of licence managers and security controls.
  • Hardware and operating system software fault finding and troubleshooting, including assistance with application software where possible.

Exclusions

  • Hardware maintenance.
  • Backup of server (but can be negotiated for an additional cost)

UNIX/Linux workstation installation

  • Installation and configuration of new versions of operating system. Systems supported include Solaris and Linux (Red Hat and SuSe). Support for a specific operating system will be judged on a case by case basis.
  • Connection to the University network and creation of up to ten local user ids if required.

Exclusions

  • Installation of peripheral devices. This can be arranged for an additional cost.
  • Hardware maintenance.

  • System monitoring and performance control.
  • Username/ password registration and administration.
  • Installation of compilers.
  • Administration of security controls.
  • Hardware and operating system software fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Installation of application software specific to a user is available at an additional cost.
