JANET Roaming Service (JRS)

The University Of Leeds is a member of the JANET Roaming Service (JRS) . The JRS is also part of an international roaming service called Eduroam.

Eduroam provides an infrastructure that allows a user to logon using their own username and password at participating locations.

The Eduroam service is primarily focused at wireless networks however some institutions provide JRS access for wired networks.

Information for staff and students at the University Of Leeds

• You may visit participating JRS institutions and authenticate to gain network access using your University of Leeds credentials (DS domain only at present).
• You should enter your username in the following format:

  username@leeds.ac.uk

• A map and list of participating institutions.
• Support procedures.

Information for visitors wishing to use JANET Roaming Service at the University Of Leeds

• Wireless Access Point Information:
  • Information on the University of Leeds wireless Network
  • The wireless network for EDUROAMis 802.1x enabled
  • If you cannot use 802.1x, please log in using the web interface on the 'University of Leeds Wireless' SSID
    
• Network services granted: Internet access
• Connecting to the wireless network:
  
  1. In a wireless area associate your laptop with your chosen SSID
  2. Either connect seamlessly with 802.1x or open your web browser and be redirected to a secure web page and enter your authentication details
  5. You will now have Internet access
• Acceptable Use Policy: You are reminded that when logging onto the wireless network you are required to adhere to the conditions of the Use of Computer Systems Policy, all other relevant policies, your home institution's Computing Regulations, and the JRS policy.
