Windows Configuration
'eduroam' for Windows 7
1. Open the laptop and see that the user cannot connect
2. Click on the wireless icon in the bottom tray and open the Network and Sharing Centre
3. Then click on Manage wireless networks and view the wireless networks configured on the device. Find the one for eduroam and right click on it and Remove network
4. Once removed, then go to the Add button and manually create a network profile
5. A window opens, add in the network name 'eduroam' and use WPA2-Enterprise as the Security type and then click Next
6. Another window opens, click the Security tab on this window
7. Once in the Security setting, click on the bottom Advanced Settings button and tick the Specify authentication mode, selecting User authentication. Click OK
8. Then click Settings, opposite the PEAP settings and another window opens. In this one, ensure that Connect to these servers is ticked and radius.leeds.ac.uk is entered. Also tick the box alongside AddTrust External CA Root in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Then click Configure and Untick the tick box in the new window that opens. Then click OK to close this and OK again to close the Protected EAP Properties window
9. Then close down all the open windows you have used and click on the wireless icon in the bottom bar. Click once on eduroam and click disconnect if it is an option. then click connect and log in as normal, the user should be able to get back onto the network and work as usual
10. In extreme situation, where this appears not to work, it has been found that restarting the device in Safe mode with networking and then configuring as per the instructions has enabled a device to connect properly
