Upgrade to Microsoft Exchange 2007 - Completed

ISS maintains the University of Leeds staff e-mail system which currently uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and runs on Windows 2003 servers. Last year, Microsoft released Exchange Server 2007 therefore ISS is in the process of upgrading to the new system.   

Exchange 2007 offers many improvements including:
  • Improved server response times during periods of high activity
  • Quicker search facility
  • Much improved Outlook Web Access with a more advanced calendaring system, enhanced contact and address book management and more configurable options.

The project began in June 2008 and is due for completion in April 2009.

The Project Board members are:

  • Project Executive - Nigel Bruce, Windows Based Services, Service Group Leader
  • Senior Supplier - Mark Madeley, Windows Server Team Service Leader
  • Senior User - Lorna Halson, Central Admin IT Co-ordinator
  • Project Manager - Craig Adams
  • Project Team - Windows Server Team
