The SAP HR/Payroll system is a business critical system that supports the  University's HR management and development activities. It is used to pay employees, casual staff and pensioners and ensures that the University is able to meet its statutory obligations relevant to these payments (i.e. tax returns), it also provides a single source of employee master data that is used for providing essential information for:

  • The Higher Education statistical returns
  • Management reporting
  • Security access to other major University business systems
  • Analysing employee costs against budgets

The University of Leeds was one of the first Higher Education organisations to use SAP HR/Payroll and has worked closely with SAP to provide a world class system capable of providing accurate and timely employee information when and where it is needed whilst observing the rules and regulations of the Data Protection Act.

Since SAP HR/Payroll was implemented a number of projects have been undertaken to deliver additional functionality and to support the HR policy for decentralising responsibility for certain data input.
